Lawn Care Tips

Overseed and fertilize

At least four times per year, apply a lawn care product such as Scotts.  These products strengthen your existing lawn and encourage new growth, which will help prevent weeds from sprouting.  NOTE: You may also need to use a grub-control compound if you find patches of dead grass in your yard.

Mowing height

Everyone wants their lawn to look like a putting green; but, cutting too short can cause grass to die during the summer months, even with plenty of water.  Remember not to let you grass grow taller than 6" per Kearney Glen bylaws.

Bag clippings

Use lawn bags for your grass clippings to prevent the spread of dandelion, clover, and crabgrass seeds.  Yard waste is collected on the same day as garbage pickup April 1st through the first week of December.

Water in Moderation

Water too little, and your lawn can turn dry and yellow.  But water too much, and your lawn will be suceptible to disease, shallow roots, and rot.  Most established lawns only need a thorough soaking about once per week, depending on weather conditions.

Even-numbered houses water on even-numbered days, and odd-numbered houses water on odd-numbered days.  Watering is only allowed from 6 AM to 10 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM.  Rain barrels are permitted.
